We’ve been on hiatus since the playoffs for a variety of reasons (including a few folks’ relocations to new cities). We’ll still be active via Twitter and — when the spirit moves one of us — post on the OFB site. But our days of game-by-game coverage are behind us. It’s been a fun seven years (!), and readers like you are the reason we’ve kept at it even this long.
Rest assured, we remain fervent supporters of our Washington Capitals, and appreciate all the opportunities this labor of love has provided. The Caps should be grateful to have the best fan base and blogging community in the NHL. We’ll still chime in now and then… we may not be writing regularly anymore, but our hearts remain with this team and its fans.
Let’s Go Caps!
The OFB Team
Why not recruit new ones for those that drifted away and keep the blog up to date?
while the post-victory image of some highfalutin beer will not be missed, the finely crafted hockey entries certainly will.
may your ponds always be frozen…
Looks like Morgan has volunteered himself/herself.
Don’t bet on it.
Was looking froward to a Cup of Joe ripping this team for having to come back against calgary when they nearly beat Chicago two nights before.
’tis a sad day indeed for me. OFB has been a resource and friend (probably in opposite order). But as a wise man once wrote, “the point of the journey, is not to arrive.” And it’s been quite a journey. Cheers to you, OFB, as you head on down the road with fine beer in the cooler and good tunes to take you onward.
I found this site years ago when I was totally frustrated with WP hockey coverage. Great insight and reporting on the Caps, and hockey in general. I have missed your posts and was wondering “where are these guys?” Best of luck. Go Bruins!
Friend told me a couple of weeks ago about this BLOG and it was a must to follow. I’m sorry I missed it.
I’ve really enjoyed OFB, especially the management breakdown article last year, really shed alot of light and clarity on the Caps issues.
Life is change, thanks for all the great hockey grist – stay thirsty my friends..
It is going to be a long and happy regular season, filled with ups and downs, with an nice winter Olympics break in the middle. But the season will most likely end in our annual ritual of disappointment. don’t anyone get your hopes up until they make it into round 3 of the playoffs. Until then, we’ve seen all this too many times before.
You’all got us started reading Washington Capitals blog sites, and we never would have realized how much informed and entertaining depth existed without your early efforts – thanks very much for helping the community get kick-started.
So sorry to see all the Caps critics throw in the towel !!!!!!!!!!! I miss all the Big Expectations of the Caps Fans ,However we all knew that the Russian Captain was a Hoax from the start ….. For good hockey tune in for the Penquins they will always perform no matter what.
Damn I miss bugging …Mike & Pucks……. but I heard it threw the Grape Vine that you have had enough of Failure on your End!!!!
OFB – please, please, please start posting blog entries once more. With McPhee finally gone, the McPhailure in D.C. may be in the rear view as well. So far, I really like what I’m seeing from the Mac-Trotz tandem and the team they’re putting out on the ice this Columbus Day weekend. Especially when you consider, as I do, that Montreal and Boston are at the top of the Eastern Conference. Maybe the Caps can join them in he postseason next Spring. Let’s go Caps!
