A House Undefended
Separate and distinct from the scoreboard verdict, there was a disquieting vibe to Super Sunday’s matinee tilt between the Penguins and Capitals. I sat down low in Verizon Center for it, and I didn’t like the vibe at all. This … Continue reading

A Veteran Media Voice Speaks Out Against Sufficating Skins Coverage
Did you know that WRC News4 anchor Jim Vance has been with that outlet since 1969? He’s seen a lot in that time in the nation’s capital, but apparently this summer he’s already seen more wall-to-wall Redskins’ coverage than even … Continue reading
TSN, Sending Up Semin
We in Washington have, understandably, a conflicted view of Alexander Semin. To be sure, we’re aware of his numerous and infuriating faults: so often, he seemed invisible; so often, he seemed capable of so much more. Yet we’ve also had … Continue reading

Another Pack of Pucksters Makes Round 2 Picks
Dear Jim Iovino: Wise men publish elevated flattery directed at beautiful women. Kinda surprised we were the only ones going with Caps in seven in round one. But we’re even more surprised to see the overwhelming majority (all but one!) … Continue reading

Quality Content and Good Fun: WRC’s Embrace of DC’s Hockey Blogs
With five consecutive playoff appearances, the Capitals have helped deliver another rite of spring — local NBC web guru Jim Iovino’s spirited playoff survey of local media, heavy on blogger participation, to his credit. Jim is the managing editor of … Continue reading
The Second-Best Way to Watch an NHL Game
While I love watching the Caps on TV, I enjoy watching other NHL games as well. In the past I’ve had NHL Center Ice, which provides basic functionality but not much else. I was never a huge fan of it because there was always a dearth of HD games, at least through Verizon FIOS. So when I heard that NHL GameCenter was available via the PS3, I was intrigued. Grapes, on the Great Caps
These are heady times in HockeyWashington — check out the latest Hockey Night in Canada ‘Coach’s Corner’ segment wherein Don Cherry gives the Caps the ultimate compliment.
Sky TV
We’ve a terrific pal on the beat in 106.7 the Fan’s Sky Kerstein, who also happens to be an Energizer Bunny on the beat — no reporter in town is out at Kettler for practices, development camps, and press conferences … Continue reading

Another Playoff Party Online for Blogging Pucksheads at WRC
Among a host of impressive media voices we chimed in again on what we think might happen in the Caps-‘Bolts series for WRC-TC 4’s web site today. JP, Dave Nichols of the Capitals News Network, WNST’s Ed Frankovic, Sean Leahy … Continue reading
