In their “Luxury Homes” column, the Washingtonian detailed Backstrom’s recent home purchase. Looks like someone got a $200,000 price cut from his buddy:

Capitals star center Niklas Backstrom bought a house in Arlington from his former teammate Jose Theodore for $2 million. The six-bedroom, eight-bath home has a fitness room, Irish pub, wine cellar, and theater. It listed for $2.2 million. Continue reading

Hockey ‘N Heels: Flavor Saver Edition

Last night was the ever-popular Hockey ‘N Heels at Kettler Capitals Iceplex. The event, which sold out in under five minutes, was attended by 250 women of all ages. Activities included on-ice demonstrations with instructions from Karl Alzner, John Carlson, Marcus Johansson, Braden Holtby, and Peter Bondra. Continue reading

Pucks ‘N Pipsqueaks

Last night the Capitals introduced a new event to their ever-expanding list of fan events: Sticks ‘n Sneakers. It’s Hockey ‘n Heels for the younger set. Membership in the Capitals Kids Club has quickly grown, and the Caps figured there would be interest in such an event. They were right; all 120 tickets for the event quickly sold out.
