Showers of Playoff Victories Bring a Flowering of Faithful Fans

The Big Guy’s blog, from earlier today — a must read. Jives with what we’ve seen about town, ever since the Caps bettered the Bs. And should Fate smile our way Saturday night, we can only imagine what this town might be transformed into.

Also from today, NHL.com offered some fun and clever coverage of the Caps-Rags series, staking out a Manhattan sports bar named Standings this spring, which apparently for the past couple of years has been overtaken by Caps’ fans, many of them transplants with authentic D.C. roots who Rock the Red  still in the land of blue. Among them: longtime OFB reader and friend Jessica, who’s a featured fan in the piece.

We chatted with Jessica this afternoon via Facebook, asking her the obvious question: How do we buy you a victory beer in Standings tomorrow night around 10:30?

Every time my husband goes to the store with his Caps hat on, he comes home with a new (happy) story about how much support is flowing right now.

I wear my Caps-Hendricks signed T-shirt. Hendy is the man, proud to wear the colors win or lose.

Well, as is normal occurrence when ye caps faithful get your hopes up, the curse comes back to bring us back to reality. See you all in October.

@SEAN. Why are you on this site? No Caps fan feels good right about now so there are no need for your words. Why do people do that!!??

When BB got fired I posted on this blog that it was a bad move, and predicted the Caps wouldn’t get past the second round.

know it stings, but great run there, guys. dethroned the champs, took a run at the #1 seed, and answered any questions regarding an ability to play “playoff-style” hockey.

i look forward to coming back to the blog next season, and hopefully ovi falls out of a fishing boat in some russian lake (there are lakes over there, no?)during the offseason.

also hope you, and those associated with you, kick some cancer ass over the summer as well.

@told ya: i, for one, am really impressed. however, perhaps we’d all be better served by your genius if you posted winning lottery numbers instead. just sayin’.

@Berry: Woah! Back to reality, this franchise is not capable of getting past round 2. check the team history, they’ve done it all of 2 times since they started playing hockey. This morning we do know a curse.
