A Ticket of Faith

Reader Michael, who goes back with us to pre-OFB days of primitive message boarding, recently passed along evidence his renewed faith in the Caps, in the form of a modest wager made with a Vegas betting house.

More than a few hockey fans make such wagers and enjoy having a staple-stub of faith with them in their wallets all season long. It strikes us as a healthy form of devotion. And come next June, we think Michael should use his modest winnings from this wager on a round or two for his favorite bloggers in D.C.

Incidentally, whereas the Caps were typically on the order of 12-1 odds to win the Cup at this time last year, according to sportsbook.com, at summer’s end in 2010 they are installed as 5-1, top-of-the-pack favorites. And at vegasinsider.com, the Caps are top-of-the-pack favorites to win the Cup at 6-1, sharing the designation, unfortunately, with guess who?

Obviously the current line on the Blackhawks at 7-1 in no way reflects the dismantling of Chicago’s roster this off season.

  2. greenlife says:

Once Ted sees those odds he will pen another “We have arrived” post on his blog.

  3. As the Wysh said, this just screams confidence!
