Penguins Fear Red

Through the years of OFB’s existence, we’ve received numerous pictures from our readers. This week we received what may be our favorites. It’s timing was impeccable and it takes the cake for distance traveled.

As a season ticket holder and dedicated OFB reader, I wanted to send you a few pictures from my Olympic break. I took the time to visit *real* penguins territory and rock the red – just another example of Capitals Country taking over. The “Antarctica” Picture is from an island off the Antarctic Peninsula, about 64 degrees 43′ south. The “South Georgia” is from the island of South Georgia, and has the Salisbury Plain King Penguin colony (hundreds of thousands of penguins) in the background. Notice none of the penguins want to get near me – they fear the red. Hope you enjoy!

Disclaimer: No real penguins were hurt during the taking of this picture, only Pitt. Penguins !

If you look really close in the background of the second picture, you can see one lone penguin with puffy lips taking a dive.

Caption should read: “In March, the Penguins skate on thin ice” or “March over the Penguins” 🙂

Love the pics! Thanks for sharing. Those are the only kind of penguins I like, not the NHL kind LOL.

The NHL Penguins should be afraid of red. Very very afraid. I hope the Caps–Ovie especially–send them packing from Verizon Center tonight very bruised, very battered, and DEFEATED.

too cool. Thanks for sharing them.

Classic! These should be made into T-shirts and sold in the Pro Shop at Kettler. I would definitely wear the second one!
