Here’s to hoping Brian Pothier returns healthy and ready to keep the Thrashers in the bird bath.

Good luck Potsy!
I was incredibly happy to see both him and varly come up. Best of luck to both on the road.
WHERE HAS OUR DEFENSE GONE?!?!!?!
hope they’re enjoying the vacay they’re obviously on…
Oh No! We suck again!
I like the way Ovie gets hooked in the throat and there is NO call. If that happened to Cindy the guy would be suspended for the season,
How about finally getting a power play toward the end of the 2nd?
Have to stop taking penalties, too.
Can’t buy a goal tonight.
That was painful.
I’ll give Fehr the hardhat.
Too many hot goalies right now tells me we just can’t finish.
Rebound in Fla.
Why does it seem like whenever we put up 40+ shots against a sub-par team we lose?
Bad game. I won’t panic about the team’s chances unless they lose tomorrow.
1) So many shots on goal and no results
2) Oh Sema, methinks you sometimes try too hard to overcompensate for your mistakes and the team’s mistakes and that’s when you take ill-advised penalties.
3) Why doesn’t Fehr get more ice time? He’s the only guy who scored tonight. Glad to see Flash back with him. Now all we need is for Fedorov to come back so they can have a better center. Bring back the F Bombers.
i had to miss big chunks of the game (or “miss” if you’d prefer). what i did see involved the announcers jumping up and down on poti. was it just a D problem (coupled with lehtonin being on point). how else do you explain a 5-1 less with that many shots on goal? i know there’s a number of games issue with bringing up alzner too early. does that count in the playoffs too? at what point can we bring him back and not worry about the FA?
Turquoise, to paraphrase Office Space, “I wouldn’t say I MISSED it, Bob.”
That, my friends, was painful.
Diane, three terrific points there, particularly regarding Sasha Semin. And yes, Feds’ return will make a huge difference, though that doesn’t excuse tonight’s defensive performance.
Y’know, losing a game like this 2-1 because the opposing goalie stood on his head… well, that would be fine. But 5-1? Zoinks, that’s terrible.
That was painful to watch. Just an awful showing for the Caps. I really hate Keith Jones though. He was the one all over Poti saying that he hasn’t done anything at ALL season. An off game doesn’t mean he hasn’t done anything. He was having a terrible game tonight, including that turnover for number 5 for the Thrashers, but that doesn’t mean that Tom Poti’s not a good defenseman. I was so p*ssed that I had a rant blog about it, and half of it probably makes no sense.
Let’s just wait until tomorrow to bounce back. Maybe we’ll have Feds to help us out.
Keith Jones was partly right because Poti is a better offensive defenseman than his stats show, and sometimes he doesn’t step up to lead a disciplined defensive effort from HIS blueline (not Green’s). Plus he was on the ice for every goal against.
Maybe it’s time to change the strategy on the PK? Have they tried using fast players so they can be really aggressive on the PK like Philadelphia?
Another game where they weren’t getting to the rebounds. Come playoff time, if they don’t do that…Well there’s a limit to how far you can ride the “Young Guns.” If they can’t pick up rebounds it won’t be farther than the second round, considering 8 28 19 and 52 can’t be superhuman all at the same time for an 8-14 game stretch.
That game reminded me of a game late last season against the Blackhawks…could this loss help ignite the fire? Can they use it as a springboard to go deeper into the playoffs this year.
Only time will tell.
The first half of the season when Theo was bad to say the least, we went 27-11-3. Since then with Theo playing well we’re 16-11-3. Have to run the table to get 108 points and match the first half.
