From Friday’s victory over Philadelphia, a few photos with my new camera. We start with 1 Capital scoring, 1 assisting, and 2 former Caps (Metropolit 13 & Eminger 26) with front-row views of the goal.
Then there’s Washington’s netminder Jose Theodore after a Flyer shot knocked off his mask.

The new camera is really great! Nice pics!
Very nice! What type of camera are you using? I didn’t get a very good haul last evening… but my 100mm f2.8 lens should be coming soon, so yay for low-light capablities!
Thanks! I’m just using a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5A, 10x optical zoom (28mm-280mm), that also takes HD video. So it’s better than most compact digitals but by no means approaching SLRs and component lenses and whatnot. I’ve found that fiddling with the seemingly-endless settings can yield pretty good quality.
Wow. You’re doing all that with a compact?! I’ve been using a Sony Alpha 100 (which I am considering upgrading next year), and I’m getting grainy images like crazy.
I’ve ordered a 135mm f2.8 lens, though, and that lets in roughly double the amount of light my current lens lets in, so that should let me use a faster shutter speed with a lower ISO and reduce the grain…
10x optical zoom is really good for a compact camera, though. And you have a good eye for sports photography. 🙂 I’m still on a learning curve for hockey – it’ll take me a few more games to get my act together – but I think my work (apart from last night) is improving as time goes by… 🙂 I’ve posted the recent shots on my blog, if you’d like a peek. 😉
