If you have the NHL Network, you’re about to see A LOT more live hockey games.¬† Via Kukla’s Korner:
With more live game coverage than ever before, NHL Network today unveiled its U.S. broadcast schedule for the 2008-09 regular season. It includes 75 regular-season games, all in HD.
Highlighting the schedule is the inclusion of CBC’s award-winning Hockey Night In Canada, now available to U.S. fans through NHL Network for the first time. Every Saturday night, NHL Network will not only broadcast the live Hockey Night In Canada double-header, but also the CBC pre-game show Scotiabank Hockey Tonight and post-game show After Hours.
Additional highlights for the 2008-09 NHL broadcast schedule include:
- Live NHL games every Saturday night throughout the season
- 26 double-headers and 1 triple-header
- 17 Wednesday-night games featuring TSN’s broadcast of Wednesday Night Hockey
Though not called out by name, you have to think that the triple-header is CBC’s Hockey Day in Canada.
If you haven’t picked up that HD flat-screen yet, may we suggest a shopping trip this weekend?
Check out Kukla’s Korner for more information, including the full schedule.
Great news, I need to go subscribe to NHL Network now. Good find 🙂
Awesome news.
But I have 1 request; can comcast in arlington please get the NHL network in HD.
Oh and I know this post says the games will be in HD; but I wont believe it till I see it.
VT….
Seems like a good time to ditch cable for DirecTV.
😉
GRAPES!!!!!!!
great.
if NHLN is going to show Hockey Night in Canada, I don’t need to to subscribe to Center Ice this year. That’s really the only reason I got it.
Yeah I watched the 3rd period of the $#@Q$pens/ Sens game and it was not HD; but I’m giving them the excuse that the Sweedes don’t have HD cameras (which I doubt is true).
Um, not to be the bearer of bad news, but both games today WERE in HD. Both Prague and Stockholm.
I won’t tell you it was beautiful.
Unless I’m mistaken (quite possible), Comcast (in Montgomery Co. at least) does not carry NHLN HD – only standard def NHLN. They do, however, have NFLN in both standard and hi def. Bastards.
This is great news – Grapes in HD! BTW, the pic at the top of the site is awesome, reminds me of growing up. I’ve only been following you guys for a few months now, but I love what you’re doing with this blog – keep it up!
NHL network on Comcast in DC is also not in HD. Lame.
