No Surprise: Caps To Be a TV Fixture in ’08-09

The Capitals today learned that they will appear on Versus, the NHL’s U.S. cable broadcast outlet, a total of seven times during the 2008-09 regular season. NBC has yet to commit to individual broadcasts but will have four possible Caps’ games to broadcast.
The Caps will appear on Versus on October 13, against Vancouver; November 10, against Tampa, in Olie Kolzig’s return to the Verizon Center; November 24 at Minnesota; December 16 at the New York Islanders; January 20 at Ottawa; January 27 at Boston; and March 16 at Atlanta.
In addition to the national broadcasts in the United States , six Capitals’ games will be televised nationally in Canada . CBC will televise two Capitals’ games: December 6 at Toronto and December 13 at Montreal. TSN will televise four Washington games: October 21 at Calgary , January 20 at Ottawa , February 18 vs. Montreal and March 24 at Toronto.

Sweet! Seems like most are away games, so us season ticket holders will get to see some HD Caps hockey on TV

  2. katekintail says:

Thank goodness no Cindy/Ovie “rivalry” games on Versus. Thanks for the news!

  3. Paul says:

MORE CAPS HOCKEY IN MAINE THEN!! YEAH!!!

More games on Versus, NBC? To that I give a “Lurch” groan. The only thing those two networks can do right is let CBC, TSN, or Rogers Sportsnet feeds through unfettered.

  5. Colby says:

my research (looking at the schedule for 3:00 start times late in the season) shows me that the games NBC is thinking about picking up is:
    Feb 22, vs Penguins
    March 1, vs Panthers
    March 8, vs Penguins
    April 5, vs Thrashers
all home games. the first 3 are all in a row..
So VS and NBC both skip out on a Caps vs Flyers rematch. I gotta say I disagree there.
